    Jason VIII:Journey from the Center of the Earth concentrates on exploring Iceland, Yellowstone National Park and the environment near students’ homes. This year’s focus is movement - the dynamic Earth, animal migrations and the movement of people.

    Students travel northward with spring, investigating the relationship between geography and temperature. Teachers can interact with other teachers whose classes are involved in the project.

    Terrific photos from the Hubble Space Telescope are updated regularly as it transmits new information. The site also contains some history, descriptions of research projects and an educational area for classroom activities.

    During the tropical storm season, some of the latest hurricane information on the site maintained by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Contains pointers on storm preparedness, explains hurricane categories, and lists the names chosen for storms.

    Lives up to its title as the ultimate desert resource. Images, stories, photos, and virtual reality tours give a vast amount of information on deserts. - Excellent site.

    Explains the science behind the news, a great background source to explain such stories as the discovery of evidence of ancient life on Mars. There are weekly updates, discussion forums, archives and brainteasers. - Excellent site.
  • Building Environmental Education Solutions, Inc. (BEES) - nonprofit organization that works with middle and high school educators to develop environmental education programs which are customized around a local issue.
  • Dr. Art's Guide to Planet Earth - book, performance, and online exhibit utilizing systems thinking to increase understanding of how our planet works.
  • Environmental Earth Science at Lewis Mills High School - with a course description, objectives, assignments and lesson plans.
  • Environmental Education Center - a collection of fact sheets, brochures, curriculum activities, projects, and more, for teaching students about the environment, compiled by the Environmental Protection Agency.
  • Environmental Literacy Council - site for K-12 teachers and students looking for international and U.S. databases, research and policy papers, factsheets, lesson plans, and activities on the environment.

  • BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute - focuses on biotechnology training and education. Programs range from introductory lab activities for kindergartners to grad level courses for students, faculty and industry scientists.

  • K-8 Aeronautics Internet Textbook - includes lesson plans, interactive activities, and curriculum bridges to other subjects.
  • Kansas Collaborative Research Network - community of researchers, teachers, and students conducting collaborative research in the sciences.
  • Microworlds, Exploring the Structure of Materials - an interactive science education magazine for Grades 7-12. It draws on the research done at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory of the University of California.
  • Minnesota Science Olympiad - team competition with as many as 19 different events ranging from earth science through physics.
  • NASA Inspire Program - an effort to involve high school students and other interested participants in the study of Earth's fascinating naturally-occurring radio signals (VLF).
