• Welcome to Dramatic Arts and Public Speaking!

The objectives of this drama course are to provide the students with advanced experiences in which the intellect, the emotions, the imagination, and the body are all involved and developed through expression, performance, observation, and reflection.

Many students ask, “Isn’t “Drama” about doing plays?”  I tell them that there is a difference between drama and theatre. Drama is the process of working towards an understanding of how people interact with each other, and exploring issues for an individual’s own learning.  Theatre is what occurs when trained professionals present this study in an aesthetic way for the learning and entertainment of an audience.  In this class, we are focusing on Drama.  Yes, we will be doing scene study and performing on the stage, but Drama I is also about learning about the entire theatrical process, from playwrighting to design to acting.
