• Welcome to Integrated Laboratory Science.  Here we take a practical approach to science using out of the box thinking.  How do we do this you say.  Simple, we learn rather than memorize.  In most cases a little bit of knowledge and understanding coupled with a dose of deductive reasoning serves to unlock those things we did not know; or thought we did not know.  In any event, learning how to do so in a safe learning environment allows us to try new learning behaviors and delve into science at the next level.  By becoming intuitive, we make our hypotheses from a perspective of a being proposed solution and not an educated guess.

    Test Preparation and Approach
    Specific to math, but an effective tool for test preparation for standardized testing.  How to prepare, approach, and eleminate anwers to improve the last resort guessability.  The site and tool is called Meaningful Math for Me.

    Major Assessments (Tests) - 40%
    Minor Assessments (Quiz) - 30%
    Routine (Class/Homework) - 30%


    I employ Differential Instruction.  These classifications involve assignments that include, but are not limited to:

    1. Pencil/Paper
    2. Presentations
    3. Posters
    4. Projects (Individual//Group)


  • There you are.  If you are reading this, you have received your upcoming schedule and are trying to find out as much as you can about your teachers.  Good move.  I sure wish we had computers and social media when I was your age.  However, you can only learn just so much from reading or listening.  Some things you have to experience!  Here is what you will find out being a part of my class……

    Guess what, I am just like you!  I am curious, want to do well in everything I try, and have insecurities.  I am a terrible test taker and know that despite your achievements many of you feel the pressure of the dreaded TEST word like me.  Because of this, I use several evaluation tools designed to help you grow and find ways to display your capabilities.  I do not want to mislead you, there are still numerous tests, but there are also projects, presentations, and other ways to put your talents on display. 

    I am excited to have you be a part of my class.  I will tell you a secret.  Despite a long career in industry, 10 years of teaching, and even more in coaching, I learn something new from my students every year.  I guarantee you are going to learn something new from me, improve on something you already know, and find out something about yourself you did not know before.  I am equally excited about what I am about to learn from you!

    Why do I call this section “Ready – Set – Learn”?  Ready is this introduction and my expression of excitement to have you, which is real.  Set; prepare yourself for something new, a classroom experience that is interactive, challenging, and rewarding.  Learn; in the SAFE Learning Environment I have in my class, just bring the real you, not some image you have tried to cultivate or want others to have of you.  It's ok to make mistakes and then learn from them.
