One Book One School
2017-2018 School YearStudents entering 9th grade as well as all current CRHS students are required to read The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin. You can purchase a copy from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Books-a-Million in the Cumberland Mall. You may also check out and borrow a copy from the CRHS Instructional Media Center.
INFO SHEET & GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
It is strongly suggested that students complete the graphic organizer while they read; however, the graphic organizer is not required. However, Miss Muhlbaier offers +5 points on the quiz for any student who chooses to complete this assignment.
If you choose to complete this assignment, please complete your double-entry journals in BLUE or BLACK ink or type them using 12-point Times New Roman. DO NOT USE PENCIL.
QUIZ/POSTER
Required work for this novel will include a quiz for ALL students in September, as well as completing a poster illustrating the major themes/ideas of the book for our One Book One School assembly later in the semester. There will be a second event in the spring for those students who do not have Language Arts in the fall.
NOTE: Students taking Language Arts in the fall with Miss Muhlbaier may bring this -- and their required reading for the course -- with them TO CLASS on the first day of school. Students taking Language Arts in the spring with Miss Muhlbaier must drop their work in the appropriately labeled box in the Main Office on the first day of school. Assignments not received on this date will be marked late and will lose 5 points for each day it is late. Work not received by the end of the first school week will not receive credit.
