The CRHS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy / Engineering Pathway / Project Lead the Way STEM program at CRHS incorporates problem-solving curricula based on the principles of engineering to prepare students to achieve college and career success in today's high-tech, high-skill global economy. The sequence of courses follows a proven, hands-on, real-world, problem-solving approach to learning, featuring STEM Art, Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics, Principles of Engineering, and the Engineering Design and Development capstone course, in addition to a complement of math and science courses. Students enrolled in the program learn and apply the design process, acquire strong teamwork and communication proficiency, and develop extensive organizational, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills. The Project Lead the Way curriculum is founded in the fundamental problem-solving and critical-thinking skills taught in traditional career and technical education, but at the same time integrates national academic standards and STEM principles to create a model for 21st-century learning. Students in the Engineering Pathway also participate in the Technical Student Association (TSA) through competitions and annual conferences.
