PerformCare: Primary resource for parents/guardians concerned about child's mental health

The New Jersey Youth Suicide Prevention Advisory Council seeks to educate youth and families about resources available for suicide prevention and post-intervention, and to reduce the overall incidents of suicide throughout the State of New Jersey.

Cumberland Regional would like to share the following information regarding the availability of PerformCare as the primary resource for parents/guardians who are concerned about their children's mental health:

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families' Children's System of Care provides all children and adolescents -- regardless of insurance status -- with coordinated access to mental health supports, substance use treatment, and services for intellectual and developmental disabilities. Parents/guardians who reach out to PerformCare will be connected with a live person who can direct them to the level of care needed.

Cumberland County Special Needs Registry

The Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the police departments of Bridgeton, Millville, and Vineland, along with the Sheriff’s Department and NJ State Police Barracks serving Cumberland County, are proud to officially announce the public launch of a county-wide Special Needs Registry.

The Cumberland County Special Needs Registry is a no-cost, voluntary service that is open to all persons with special needs who live, work, play, or attend school in Cumberland County.  The Special Needs Registry was created to help police officers and other first-responders assist our residents who would need extra assistance in the event of an emergency by making sure that those first on the scene have vital information at their fingertips regarding a registrant’s specific physical or mental impairment, emergency contact information, physical description, current photograph, and any known calming method.

An individual can register themselves, or they can be registered by a caretaker, family member or loved one. If someone is registering an adult other than themselves, they must have that person’s permission or be the legal guardian of the individual they are registering.  Registration is easily accomplished through any of these secure weblinks:

Utilities Assistance

Dec. 13, 2021
Electric, gas and water utility companies in New Jersey will resume shut off of service in January for customers with unpaid overdue balances.

The NJ Board of Public Utilities (NJ BPU) is trying to get the word out about their utility assistance programs to families behind on their utility bills now, so residents have time to apply for help and bring down their balances before January.

The State’s energy assistance brochure (available in English and in Spanish) and the NJ BPU’s fall flyer (available in English and in Spanish) provide additional information on these programs.

The income limits for these utility assistance programs have been temporarily raised as of Oct. 1 so more families can access assistance they need. For example, a household of four with income at or below $106,000 per year can qualify for monthly credits and energy debt forgiveness through the Universal Service Fund (USF) program.
