Participants traverse Georgetown Pool in handmade cardboard boats
The CRHS STEM Academy recently hosted the inaugural Cardboard Boat Regatta at Georgetown Pool in Hopewell. STEM students, along with a few special participants, built cardboard boats using only cardboard and duct tape.
In addition to awards for fastest boat, presented to Natalie Smith and runners-up Zachary Holmes and Chris Helriegel, recognition was presented in the following categories:
Theme Supreme: Ireland Styring and Robert Brown
Titanic Award: Connor Bondi and Kate Miller
School Spirit: Leslie Baez and Assistant Principal Dana Whelan
The Cardboard Boat Regatta was coordinated by Ed Sayre and Kathleen Weist, and Angela Petrutz served as announcer during the race. The event also featured a barbecue, including ribs and chicken smoked by Art Gonzalez.
