CRHS 2018-2019 Invictus Yearbook featured in Jostens Look Book 2020
Cumberland Regional High School’s yearbook, Invictus, has been recognized for excellence and featured in the Jostens Look Book 2020, celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and inclusivity. The Jostens Look Book is a collection of outstanding yearbooks and their creative themes, cool covers, beautiful designs, relevant coverage of school events, meaningful storytelling and stunning photography. Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the work of the students who create the yearbook over the course of 6-12 months. Through it, they chronicle the experiences, stories and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.
The 2018-2019 Invictus was created by student editors Sarrina Gonzalez and Zachary May and yearbook staff Karina Cortazar, DaQuan Dennis, Day’zure Jacobs, Taylor Davidson, Keyndy Ortiz, Jaiyana Warner, Houston Bryant, Mark Gibbons III, Antwine Rivera, Erick Rodriguez, Brent Messina, Paige Lloyd, Tyler Baldosaro, Raquan Burton, Leenoshka Castanon, Romone Gayle, Akilah Logan, and Amber Sanders, under the direction of Nicole Reaves-Marshina and Cindy DuBois, Cumberland Regional High School (CRHS) yearbook advisers.
"There is no greater feeling than to know all of your and your students' hard work is appreciated and recognized,” said Reaves-Marshina. “Our yearbook staff spend one-and-a-half hours a day, five days a week, for 90 days working on our yearbook, for a total of 8,100 minutes or 135 hours per student to ensure our book is completed and on time. This time does not include the hours after school, on weekends, and time attending events, taking photos, and conducting interviews.
“As an adviser, many hours go into my own planning, editing, and teaching...yet moments like this make it all worth it,” she added. “Thank you, class of 2019 yearbook staff. Your hard work truly paid off. I couldn't have done this without you. #BelieveinCRHS."
The CRHS Invictus was one of only 478 yearbooks selected from over 1,200 yearbooks submitted. The 2020 panel of judges, comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 312-page Look Book 2020.
“The Jostens Look Book showcases the hard work and dedication of students who tell the story of the school year through photos and words. It is their collaboration and communication, as well as creative thinking in challenging situations, that results in the fine designs shown in this book,” said Sara Sausker, Senior Manager of Customer Experience. “We are very proud to celebrate the ability of this country’s future leaders and communicators by showcasing their sophisticated designs and photography.”
Reaves-Marshina and DuBois and their yearbook staff received a copy of the Jostens Look Book 2020 and plaque from Jostens to recognize their outstanding achievement.

About Cumberland Regional High School Invictus
Cumberland Regional has created a yearbook each year since its opening for the first graduating class in 1978. Years later, CRHS are preparing for commencement for the school’s 43rd graduating class, and so much has changed in the yearbook industry. The yearbook team has moved from a black and white and literally cutting and pasting pictures on a template and mailing them in to an all color book with significantly more templates, graphic designs, and options for our cover, to name a few. Now, a page can be completed and edited completely online, and submitted with just a click of a button. Pages can also be preserved in a PDF file to enjoy for years to come. This is the second time in recent years that Cumberland Regional has received this most prestigious award. The CRHS yearbook advisers and staff expressed great gratitude to Jostens Yearbook representative Terry McGovern and his assistant, Kate Patterson, for being a tremendous support in all things yearbook, but also for helping to rebrand the face of Cumberland Regional.
