CRHS Celebrates November 2022 Students & Staff of the Month

Cumberland Regional High School congratulates the November 2022 CRHS Students and Staff of the Month!

Students and staff were nominated and selected because they demonstrated characteristics which align to living the C.O.L.T.S. Life at Cumberland Regional High School:
Caring
Optimistic
Leadership
Team Player
Self Discipline

Student of the Month, 9th grade: Daniel Williams
Recently, Daniel was one of only a few students that participated in an Academy Showcase to represent the IT Academy. He welcomed potential students and their parents, explained courses found throughout the academy sequence, encouraged visitors to interact with some of our academy innovations, and more. Although only currently in the first-year programming course, Daniel enthusiastically spoke about all the courses as though he has taken them all. Your participation and effort are certainly appreciated, Daniel.

Student of the Month, 9th grade: Maahishee Patel
From a “Due Now” to an essay to a double-entry journal, Maahishee puts in 100% effort every single time. Her responses are always so thorough, and I can tell she is truly engaged with the material. Her work demonstrates her unique voice and point of view while still ensuring she completes assignments to their individual instructions. She also uses her class time wisely. Every time I've assigned an analytical writing assignment, Maahishee dives back into the text looking for evidence for her assertions. I cannot wait to see the amazing impact that she has on CRHS over the next four years.

Student of the Month, 10th grade: Lucas Vallozzi
Luke is doing an awesome job in my classroom. He is always on task and uses his time wisely. I am proud of how hard he is working. I can count on Luke to make sure he is completing his work on time. Keep up the great work Luke!

Student of the Month, 10th grade: Isabella Hauserman
Isabella is one of our great CRHS model students. She is never afraid to tackle a task on her own and then help lead her peers to accomplish the difficult task as well. Over the summer and at the start of this semester Isabella has helped lead the students in her ECHS cohort to successfully complete various assignments from college professors. Her remarkable ability to excel in her own assignments as well as help her peers be successful in theirs is commendable.

Student of the Month, 11th grade: Samuel Thompson
Samuel is one of the most caring students in our school!  I always see him volunteering, helping others, and genuinely being a happy, positive student. At the volleyball tournament, he went out of his way to find me a bottle of water.  My team played longer in the tournament than anticipated and everything was put away.  He went hunting to find me water and made sure I had it to continue playing. He also encouraged me in my efforts to continue playing.  Samuel is a wonderful example of a COLT!

Student of the Month, 11th grade: Shayla Richmond
Shayla has been an extraordinary representative of the STEM Academy. Recently, she was an incredible spokesperson during the Academy open house night, speaking to prospective students and their parents. She thoroughly explained all the core classes, was able to answer all the questions from visitors and gave excellent tours of the stem classrooms including equipment, resources, past projects, and much more. Shayla also has been heavily involved with producing LED signage for the STEM and IT academies. She has had the initiative to work on these projects during her own time and they look fantastic. All your efforts are greatly appreciated, Shayla!

Student of the Month, 12th grade: Walker Gandy
Recently, Walker was one of only a few students that participated in an Academy Showcase to represent the IT Academy. He welcomed potential students and their parents, explained courses found throughout the academy sequence, encouraged visitors to interact with some of our academy innovations, and more. Walker was able to answer questions for many before they even stepped foot inside the IT lab. Your participation and effort are certainly appreciated, Walker.

Student of the Month, 12th grade: Hailey Hollawell
Hailey is in Ms. McCaffrey's Forensic Science Class where I am assigned with a 1:1 student.  She works well and is always willing to ask for help when needed.  Hailey will also help her fellow students.  She is always willing to work with my student in group activities.   Hailey shows patience and positivity with my student.

STAFF OF THE MONTH

Frank Ward
Mr. Ward has done an excellent job adjusting to a new school and learning community. During the interview process, Frank stood out as someone who takes his student's performance on state assessments very seriously and his practice in the classroom has backed up his comments. Frank has his students complete NJSLA-style writing activities as a focus activity and gives each student feedback on improving their answers before taking the assessment in December. I appreciate his efforts to help our students feel successful going into the state test.

Julie Lupchinsky
Ms. Lupchinsky led her class through a very competitive spirit week in October and continued to lead her class to run a very successful and competitive volleyball tournament in November.  She truly cares about her students and CRHS and always wants the best.  Creating fun experiences that bring staff, students and parents together are exactly what we need to continue to develop our COLTure!  Thank you, Julie for working with staff and students to make our school the best it can be!!

Bruce Cooper
Bruce is a great addition to the CRHSD community. I have the pleasure of having lunch duty with Bruce. He is constantly interacting with our staff and students. He is learning names, and interests. He sincerely cares about the lives of everyone he encounters both inside and outside of school. The students, especially respond very positively towards him. Bruce has also reached out to some of our clubs and activities to share his experience and expertise. The toastmaster with our students, Bruce is definitely exhibiting a C.O.L.T.S. Life!

We applaud these exemplary students and staff for their efforts and thank them for their contributions to the Colts family.
