CRHS Celebrates December Students, Athletes & Staff of the Month

Cumberland Regional High School congratulates the December 2022 CRHS Students, Athletes and Staff of the Month!

Students and staff were nominated and selected because they demonstrated characteristics which align to living the C.O.L.T.S. Life at Cumberland Regional High School:
Caring
Optimistic
Leadership
Team Player
Self Discipline

Student of the Month, 9th grade: Zaire Bryant
Zaire always has a positive attitude in math class.  He asked to sit in the front of the class so he doesn't miss a thing.  He always has all of  his work done and is very respectful.  Zaire has also joined the basketball team and seems really excited about it.  He is a very well-rounded young man who deserves to be a COLT of the month.

Student of the Month, 9th grade: Mohagany Spencer
Mohagany was given a month to complete Achieve 3000 work.  For two months in a row, she completed all the work within the first week of it being posted.  In December, she completed all of December's work by 12/1, the day it was posted.  When communicating with Mohagany, she always demonstrates kindness.  I want her to know that I am proud of her for who she is as a person and student.

Student of the Month, 10th grade: Abraham Reyes Gonzalez
Abraham has been helping another student who is a transfer from another school catch up on 3 months worth of work in the Guitar 1 class.  He is doing a wonderful job helping the other students get through the class.  Thank you for your willingness to help a peer get caught up in their work.  It has helped welcome them to our school.

Student of the Month, 10th grade:  Sanaa' Blackwell Sanaa' did a tremendous job in Drive Education.  She completed all of her assignments and always asked questions to check understanding and correctness.  Sanaa' worked extremely hard when it came to preparing for her test, which allowed her to be very successful in class!!

Student of the Month, 11th grade: Adriana Federico
Adriana was tasked with running all of the live sound reinforcement - more than we have ever used in the PAC before - for the Fall play, Puffs.  Not only did she jump into the position at the sound console at the last second without hesitation due to unexpected absences, but it was her first time ever using the sound console.  This was not an easy task; however, Adriana did a fantastic job and her efforts are appreciated!

Student of the Month, 11th grade: Gyainni Jones
I have been lucky enough to know and teach Gigi for the last 3 years.  The growth I have seen in her in the past two years is amazing!  Gigi is a dedicated student and athlete.  She maintains straight A's while playing sports every season.  Gigi has become a role model among her peers.  She is extremely kind and helpful in class although she doesn't like to draw attention to herself.  I'm so proud of the person she is becoming. Keep up the great work Gyianni!

Student of the Month, 12th grade: Nicholas Gibson
Nick was tasked with running all of the play accompanying sound design for the fall play, Puffs.  Not only were there A LOT of cues that had to be timed perfectly, but Nick had to learn how to use an entirely new theatrical software package at the same time.  This was not an easy task; however, Nick did a fantastic job and his efforts are appreciated.

Student of the Month, 12th grade: Jasmine Willis
Jasmine's hard work on the Research and Development course needs to be recognized.  She is writing an excellent research paper on the causes of rising food costs and ways to combat them.  I am most proud of Jasmine's willingness to help her classmates.  She regularly finishes her classwork early and, if I am busy reading over students' work, she will help to answer questions and look over papers too.  I appreciate Jasmine's caring nature, as well as her leadership role in the class!

STUDENT ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Ziyona Jackson  This is Ziyona's third year of wrestling for Schalick-Cumberland Wrestling. She has matured in the sport and gives 100% effort on a daily basis.  She is also an exemplary student in all of her courses.  It can be tough for a female in a male-dominated sport, but Ziyona continues to work hard every day.

Khalia Dawkins Khalia has really improved her cheering skills.  She shows dedication and perseverance.  For example:  Khalia learned our dance on her own when sent the equipment.  She then brought this knowledge to practice and has been able to help the other girls, especially our new girls.

Garron Hindermyer Garron is one that sets an example for the younger swimmers by being on time and being ready for practice to begin.  He is usually the first one in the water and helps to keep his lane running smoothly and efficiently.  Over his 4 years being in our program, he is one that is well respected by his peers, coaching staff and opponents.  Garron has qualified for the South Jersey Invitational Meet in the 50 and 100 Freestyle and will be competing in January.

STAFF OF THE MONTH

Cathleen Myers
Cathleen Myers' addition to the Curriculum Team has sparked the work of our office to focus on student data, enhance presentations, and create inspiring and fun artwork.  Additionally, she continues to support the Main Office and is temporarily taking over some responsibilities during the Special Projects Coordinator transition.  Her initiative, kindness, humor and professionalism are so appreciated.  Keep up the amazing work!

Tracey Costanzo
Tracey brings so much to the table in her role as a teacher at CRHS.  She took the reins on a couple of classes when her co-teacher was out sick for an extended time.  Then, on the I&RS team, she brings a wealth of knowledge and resources which she graciously shares with the members.  We are so grateful that she is a COLT!

Jy'Isha Nieves  Jy'Isha has always been willing to help out when needed to help translate with a student or parent.  There has not been one time when she was asked for help that she did not accommodate herself.  She is such a team player and deals so well with the students and parents.  Additionally, Jy'Isha coordinates Colt Tutoring and helps lead the sessions with me by making sure students are where they need to be so we can help get the students back on track.

We applaud these exemplary students, athletes and staff for their efforts and thank them for their contributions to the Colts family.
