Cumberland Regional High School congratulates the January 2023 CRHS Students, Athletes and Staff of the Month!
Students and staff were nominated and selected because they demonstrated characteristics which align to living the C.O.L.T.S. Life at Cumberland Regional High School:
Caring
Optimistic
Leadership
Team Player
Self Discipline
Student of the Month, 9th grade: Sean McGowan
From the first day I met Sean, he has been one of the politest students to interact with at CRHS. He is courteous and genuinely cares about how others are doing each day. Academically, Sean is excelling in his freshman year. He has all A's and B's in his classes, which include some college courses he has been able to complete. Great start to your first year at CRHS Sean! Keep up the great work!
Student of the Month, 9th grade: Ronald Cortazar Osorio Ronald is such a fantastic student in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resource course. His participation levels in class are above and beyond. He is a positive role model for all students around him. There have been a few times where he helped to translate for another student in class. He is kind and helps to lead groups he is in. Ron is very much the best version of himself, and I appreciate him every day!
Student of the Month, 10th grade: Ana Paz Gomez
Ana has had a great start to the second semester in my class. She is a hard worker and takes the initiative to help her classmates and teachers. She volunteers to pass out and collect papers and to write on the Promethean board when reviewing work. She is always kind to others and responsible with her time. I've enjoyed getting to know Ana.
Student of the Month, 10th grade: Malachi Rhodes
Malachi is a quiet student who always models excellent behavior. He is always on time or early to class and takes pride in his work. He works well with his classmates and is always respectful to adults. He is a pleasure to have in class every day!
Student of the Month, 11th grade: Shynasia Williams
During the floor hockey tournament, Shy did a great job keeping the main gym on schedule and flowing flawlessly. She is a great asset to CRHS and the 11th grade class. She was enthusiastic during the tournament, and it would not have been the same without her.
Shy is one of my favorite students at CRHS. There is not a day that goes by where I don't see her smiling, joking, and spreading joy for her fellow students. Her awesome personality coupled with her focus and drive makes her a force to be reckoned with.
Student of the Month, 11th grade: Lydee Darling
Lydee goes above and beyond in Art 2. Her discipline and focus, when creating her art, naturally makes her a strong leader and a great example for others. Lydee participates in class discussions about art and, also, is willing to hear suggestions to push her artwork further.
Student of the Month, 12th grade: Cristoval Salgado Pavon
Cristoval is a student aide in my first block class this semester. Cris comes in every morning with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He has become a great role model to the very impressionable freshmen and sophomores in the class. We like to joke that he used to be one of them and now he has grown up into a wonderful young man. He eagerly completes any task I may have for him and is quick to ask if there are any other jobs, he can do for me. I as well as our school would be worse off without Cristoval Salgado around. Keep up the great work Cris!
Student of the Month, 12th grade: Ethan Orange
Ethan is a pleasure to be around every day. I have watched him grow as a student and a person over the past four years in our ECHS program. Ethan has always been focused on making positive choices to set himself up for success in the future. Recently, I was overjoyed to learn that Ethan was accepted into his top choice for college. Keep making CRHS proud Ethan!
STUDENT ATHLETES OF THE MONTH
Isaiah Colson Isaiah was a role model for our younger swimmers throughout the season being consistent both at meets and practices by setting a good example. Isaiah came up huge for us in countless individual and relay spots that led to some big wins and huge time drops in big meets like the South Jersey Invitational and the Tri-County Showcase being a member of ribbon and medal winning relays against incredible competition. He is one that will be missed greatly by our program and set the bar high for future Colts.
Di’Nyah Brisbone Di’Nyah progressed as a basketball player and as a person this season. She works hard every day on improving her skills and encourages everyone around her to do the same. She shows tremendous leadership with her teammates and tries to help the younger girls at practices.
STAFF OF THE MONTH
Jason Coombs Jason works extremely hard all day in the CDP room and then he stays after most days to supervise the weight room and work with his football players to build that team mentality that helped him have such a good season this past year. I am often in my room late and I hear him working so hard to keep his students disciplined and motivated. It is honestly very inspiring to hear him talk with his students. It is obvious that he cares so much about making them the best they can possibly be. Great work, Coach!
Kristin Masters Ms. Masters can empower all her students with confidence and pride. Two students I spoke with this month stated her class was a highlight of their year. They both stated that in her class they experienced success, enjoyed her style of teaching, and felt that she respected them. Although this may not seem unusual. The remarkableness of this comes from these students; one was an honors student and the other was a struggling learner.
Paul Kuntz Jr. Paul has been super helpful helping me with any and all technical difficulties/needs. He always gets to my classroom as soon as he can, and he is constantly positive and kind with his help. Paul also offers advice and tips on how to better use my technology in the classroom. He is an awesome colleague that CRHS appreciates!
We applaud these exemplary students, athletes and staff for their efforts and thank them for their contributions to the Colts family.
